This novel tells about a girl named Pilar and her first love. They had been separated for eleven years. And when she found him, he was a handsome and charismatic spiritual leader.

There are some of my favorite quotes...

"Falling from the third floor is as painful as falling from the hundredth floor....If I must fall may it from a high place." 

“In real life, love has to be possible. Even if it is not returned right away, love can only survive when the hope exists that you will be able to win over the person you desire.” 

"May my tears flow as far as it can , so my love will never know that one day i have cried for him"

“If pain must come, may it come quickly. Because I have a life to live, and I need to live it in the best way possible. If he has to make a choice, may he make it now. Then I will either wait for him or forget him. Waiting is painful. Forgetting is painful. But not knowing which to do is the worst kind of suffering”  

"I want to ask about something. Something that i haven't asked since we met."
"Is that a serious question?"
"Really serious."     "Here it is: where are we going?"
We both laughed
"Zaragoza." he replied with relief 

There are actually more quotes that i like. If i typed it, i would retype the whole book. hehehe
Paulo Coelho wrote many simple dialogs that carve deep meanings like the last quote i mention.
Please don't see them from the romance side only,  they mean more than it.

Kita saja jika menyayangi seseorang, lalu orang itu harus pergi

Apalagi Tuhan, Tuhan yang mencintai kita lebih dari ibu kita mencintai kita
Tuhan ingin saat kita kembali pada-Nya , ke sisi-Nya dengan sebaik-baiknya
selamanya dalam keadaan baik
masuk ke dalam surga-Nya yang dimuliakan
Jadi sebagaimanapun kita harus berusaha agar saat kita kembali, kita kembali dengan keadaan baik
